Drive-by Scripture, Hosea 10:12

Well, damn, I’ve been a little light on the religion this week, eh? Since Tuesday’s double-feature about the rapture, I’ve been throwing jokes at you and another installment of my Cleansed By Fire novel. How about some more God before this week is over, huh?

Sow to yourselves in righteousness, reap in mercy; break up your fallow ground: for it is time to seek the LORD, till he come and rain righteousness upon you. (Book of Hosea, chapter 10, verse 12, King James Version)

All of us, even those strong in faith, have “fallow ground.” There are parts of us that are overrun with weeds, sorely in need of irrigation or fertilizer, and just plain begging to be tended. We have vices, sins, conceits and unhealthy desires that hold us back.

It is in a spirit of faith and redemption that we can sow seeds into that fallow ground and grow something better. Be something better. Rise to a higher plane.

We won’t ever be perfect. But we still must go through the process of perfecting ourselves, no matter how far we ultimately end up falling short of that goal.
